Level 3: Domestic abuse response
We want to equip your church to feel confident in supporting survivors of domestic abuse.
Our Level 3 course builds on the previous two levels of training to prepare people in churches and faith-based organisations to walk alongside victims and survivors on their road to recovery.
Level 3 course content
This course we’ll equip you with practical tools to safely and effectively walk alongside survivors. We’ll cover:
- An introduction to the concept of trauma and how this should inform our response to victims/survivors
- A reflection on boundaries
- How to handle disclosures
- An overview of how the safeguarding system in the UK works

The Level 3 training runs either as a one-day course on Saturdays, or you can cover the content over three evenings. All sessions happen via Zoom, but we build in plenty of time for screen breaks.
Tap ‘view dates’ to see all of the session dates and times for each upcoming course.
“Thank you for the course, it was very helpful for me at the start of my journey helping survivors. You could easily get lost in the complexity of abuse and trying to help friends, but the importance of understanding “my” role in helping and not stepping outside that role is vital. I think that came across in a loving way but still setting out clearly where you can help survivors.”
Training FAQs
One of the best parts of all our training courses is getting to discuss the course material with other attendees in breakout groups, and ask questions as you go. For that reason, we don’t record the sessions and recommend that you try to join each one live.
Our Level 1 training course includes video content that will be sent to you after each session, along with the slides. Levels 2 and 3 don’t have any recorded content, but you’ll receive a copy of the slides to look back on.
Our three levels of training are designed to be completed in sequence, so if possible we recommend that you complete them in order. Depending on your level of experience, you could choose to join at Level 2, but we’d suggest not missing this level as it includes specific content about domestic abuse and faith that isn’t often covered in other domestic abuse training.
